A Pre-Marital Visitation

If we learn to handle our own souls tenderly & lovingly, then we’ll be able to carry this loving wisdom into the world outside.

This week we were deeply blessed by a visit from Hillary Coplen and Pete Winningham, engaged to be married October 4. They flew to Detroit from Southern California for a 48-hour, 7-session pre-marital counseling intensive. Lindsay took them on a psycho-educational tour of family genogram exploration, pain cycle and peace cycle work, and a celebration of personality differences.

This, of course, involves some deep soul-searching, but we had plenty of laughs and food & drink to go along with the intensity of engagement! We took a jog on the Detroit Riverwalk, journeyed to the Eastside to visit the Heidelberg Project and ate the best Mexican, Mediterranean and Salvadoran food that this watershed has to offer.

We really had a great time with these two and we continue to discern that we desire to put more time and energy into this particular kind of coupleship work.
