Beanies & Blossoms

Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.
Rabindranath Tagore

We were blessed this week with visitors: Lindsay's sister, Kristen, and her husband Sam. We have been on a profound spiritual journey with these two: almost five years together in a 12-Step style house church and, eventually, intentional community. We miss them dearly so it was a great time to celebrate life together with food, drink, laughter and intense dialogue.

Much gratitude to Lindsay's mom for gifting us with seats to the Tigers game on Monday. It was our first trip to Comerica Park. We were well-prepared for temps in the upper 40s and some rain. We were surprised at the gate when we found out they were giving away free Detroit Tigers beanies.

Pastor Bill took us on his legendary tour of the Diego Rivera Industry murals at the Detroit Institute of the Arts

Bill pointed out that Rivera subversively confronted the fetishization of commodities. The car engine becomes personified and the masses worship it in the background.

And all of a sudden: fruit trees on Cecil are bursting with blossoms.
